The museum is situated on the premises of the former military airport in Piešťany. The exposition consists of more than a hundred pieces of heavy and light artillery, airplanes and helicopters from the armaments of the Czechoslovak army from 1945 to 1992.
Part of the former military airport, with three halls on Zilinska cesta was intended to build a permanent exhibition. In the 2002 - 2003 were these objects partially reconstructed. On 25.09.2004 was opened to the public a permanent exhibition entitled "Czechoslovak army weaponry in the years 1945 - 1992". The exhibition is an area of more than 41,000 m2 and is divided into internal and external. The exposure is made available to the public with more than 400 pieces of three-dimensional objects presenting the equipment, gear and techniques used in Czechoslovak Army since the end of World War II until 1992.
Museum department Piestany registers currently 7840 objects. In the depository of the museum department is also saved 18,500 objects of museum and gallery value. Most of the large-scale exhibits are available on the external surfaces.
